Royal Hua Hin Golf Course
ClassicPrachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin) · Hua Hin–Prachuap
The oldest golf course in Thailand, open since 1924 and set right beside Hua Hin railway station. A classic, leafy atmosphere with friendly green fees, perfect for history lovers.
Overview
Royal Hua Hin is the oldest golf course in Thailand, in play since 1924 (built during the reign of King Rama VI to serve the British engineers and railway workers alongside Thai royalty of the era). It was designed by A.O. Robin, a Scottish railway engineer stationed on the Phetchaburi line, which is why it carries the flavour of a traditional British layout that follows the natural contours of the land. Each fairway winds through stands of mature, fully grown trees and handsome rocky rises, giving every hole a private feel separate from its neighbours.
Highlights & Signature Holes
- A standard 18-hole, par-72 course measuring around 6,678 yards from the men’s tees
- The par-4 13th is a challenging uphill hole where the resident troop of long-tailed macaques often turns up in the bushes along the fairway, adding a character all its own
- Its historical value as Thailand’s first international-standard 18-hole course is a charm you simply won’t find anywhere else
Who it suits
Ideal for golfers who enjoy a classic, leafy, mid-level course that isn’t overly punishing, and for travellers who want to play a round while soaking up the history of Thai golf. Getting there is especially easy.
Before you go
The course sits in the heart of town, right next to Hua Hin’s historic railway station, so it’s convenient to reach without leaving the city. Book your tee time in advance, especially during the high season (November–February) when the weather is cool and pleasant and visitors are at their busiest.
Green fees are estimates and may change by day, season and promotion — please confirm with the course before you travel.
