This is the original unit that put SkyTrak on the map for home golf simulators, and the brand still sells it new alongside the ST MAX as the entry point to the line rather than as a discontinued model.

It works on photometric cameras alone — imaging the ball at impact and just after launch, then computing the full ball data set: ball speed, launch angle, back spin, side spin, descent angle, side angle and shot shape. The thing to be clear about is that the official spec for this model lists no club data at all. No club head speed, no club path, no face angle. That is precisely the gap the ST MAX fills by adding dual Doppler radar.

The second limit matters more than the price. The official spec lists this unit as “Indoor”, where the ST MAX is listed as Indoor/Outdoor. If you are buying to hit at an outdoor range, this is the wrong device and a portable unit like the Garmin Approach R10 or Shot Scope LM1 makes far more sense. The hitting zone is also a small ~2 × 2 inches, against roughly 4 × 4 inches on the ST MAX, so ball placement has to be more precise.

What keeps it interesting is that it plugs into the same software and membership ecosystem as the flagship. It connects over its own built-in Wi-Fi hotspot without needing a router, and Shot Optimizer has you hit 20 shots with a club to establish an expected distance, then scores subsequent shots against players of various skill levels — a more useful read on consistency than staring at one shot at a time.

Who it’s for: someone who already has an indoor hitting area, wants into a simulator setup at the lowest hardware cost in the SkyTrak line, and can live without club data. If you want face angle, or you also want to use it outdoors, going straight to the ST MAX is better value than buying this and upgrading later.

On price: SkyTrak’s own store lists this model at USD 695, with a regular price of USD 1,995 shown on the same page (skytrakgolf.com · checked 29 July 2026). At the time of writing, the brand’s International Partners page listed no distributor for Thailand, so we could not find an official Thai retail price and have not put a baht figure on this page. We will update it once there is a source we can point to.
