This is the second GOLFBUDDY laser on the site, after the aim QUANTUM, and the two point in different directions. The QUANTUM is built around being small enough that you actually carry it. The GB LASER 2S Pro is bigger and heavier — 99.4 × 65 × 36.3 mm and 161 g with the battery, against 95 × 47.3 × 36.5 mm and 143 g — but it reaches much further, and it has a mode the QUANTUM does not.
That mode is Buddy Mode, which runs on the unit’s triangulation feature. GOLFBUDDY’s own description of the workflow is: laser your ball, then laser the pin, and the unit returns the distance between the two. There are two real uses. The first is getting the number while you are still on the cart path, before you have walked up to the ball, so you carry one club rather than three. The second is a playing partner in the trees who wants a yardage — you can shoot it from where you stand instead of crossing the fairway. On a course that is pushing groups along, that saves a genuine amount of time.
The rest is the standard set, done properly: 0.15-second reads, ±1 yard, Pin Finder on a press-and-hold of the power button with a vibration to confirm the lock, and a Scan mode that sweeps continuously for five seconds on one click. The 1,093-yard maximum is beyond any shot you will play, but the headroom means far targets — a tree behind the green, a distant marker — come back easily.
Specs we could not source: GOLFBUDDY publishes no water rating for this model, no warranty term, and no statement on whether slope can be turned off or whether the unit is USGA/R&A legal for competition. Worth noting that the aim QUANTUM’s page covers both IPX4 and tournament conformity, and this page covers neither. (The official photography shows a switch marked SLOPE on the body, but a photograph is not a specification and we are not going to fill the gap on the brand’s behalf.) The water rating and the competition question are the two to put to a seller before you pay.
One more thing to know: the brand’s global product site, en.golfbuddy.com, has no page for the 2S Pro at all. It lists only the plain GB LASER 2S, which is a different unit — larger at 101.1 × 73.8 × 40.9 mm and 197 g, ranging to 880 yards, and rated IPX4. Everything on this page therefore comes from the model’s page on the brand’s US store, golfbuddyamerica.com, which is the only brand-owned source that carries it.
Buy this if you play in a group and ride a cart — Buddy Mode gets more use than it sounds like it would — and you want a mid-priced laser that reads fast and accurately and is actually sold by a Thai shop. Skip it if you enter competitions or post handicap scores, where you want a unit the maker explicitly says is slope-switchable and conforming, such as the aim QUANTUM or the Bushnell Pro X3; if you play through the wet season and want a published water rating; or if you would rather not carry spare CR2 cells. And if what you want is a distance on every hole without raising anything to your eye, look at the GPS watch side instead — the aim W12.
On price: the figures here come from Leonian Golf (leoniangolf.com), a Bangkok golf retailer that lists the model on its own site — ฿9,900 list, ฿7,920 on promotion — with the product page showing “out of stock” when we checked on 6 August 2026. Treat it as a reference range rather than something to order today. The foreign reference price is USD 219.99 at the brand’s US store (golfbuddyamerica.com, checked the same day). We do not convert that into baht: import duty, shipping and local warranty make a converted figure meaningless. We will update this once we find another Thai seller.
