Both GPS golf watches already on this site are Garmins, and both are pitched as watches you wear all day — the Approach S70 tracks heart rate and sleep and doubles as an everyday watch, while the Approach J1 is built for a junior’s wrist. The aim W12 goes the other way. It is a pure golf instrument, and it spends its spec sheet on what happens across eighteen holes.

The clearest example is green reading. The W12 shows green undulation — a picture of the slopes on the putting surface before you play your approach — and it calculates slope-adjusted distances for you, so you are not reading a raw number and doing arithmetic in your head. The other feature you’ll reach for on a tight hole is Touch IP: tap an intersection point on the hole map and the watch gives you the distance to it, which is how you decide whether to carry a bunker or lay up short of it. Pair that with Preview, which shows you the hole before you tee off, and it earns its keep on a course you’ve never played.

On hardware, the screen is a 1.32-inch full-colour TFT-LCD touchscreen at 360 × 360 pixels, against 1.3 inches and 240 × 240 on the outgoing W11. It carries 40,000 courses worldwide with free updates, receives GPS and GLONASS with what GOLFBUDDY describes as dual-band technology, and the case is IPX7 waterproof. The body weighs 33 g, and the box includes a spare silicone strap alongside the fitted leather one.

Who should buy it: a golfer who wants distances on the wrist without raising a laser to their eye, who cares about green data and hole planning, and who does not need the watch to double as a fitness tracker. Who should skip it: anyone after a single watch for everything — the official W12 spec lists only clock, pedometer and calorie counting, with no heart-rate or sleep tracking of the sort the S70 offers — and anyone playing more than one round between charges should look hard at that ten-hour golf-mode figure first.

On price: GOLFBUDDY’s official site (en.golfbuddy.com) is a product-information site and does not publish retail prices, and the brand’s Dealer Information page lists US shops only. We could not find an official Thai retail price (checked 29 July 2026), so there is no baht figure on this page. We will update it once there is a source we can point to.
