Amata Spring Country Club
ChampionshipChonburi · Eastern
Host of the Thailand Golf Championship, home to the famous island green at hole 17, and ranked among the top courses in Asia.
Overview
Amata Spring Country Club opened in 2005 inside the Amata City industrial estate in Chonburi. It was designed by Lee Schmidt of Schmidt-Curley Design, a firm renowned for championship courses across Asia. One interesting feature is that the land was originally flat with a large lake in the middle of the plot, so the design team lowered the water level of the lake by around 10 meters to sculpt fairway mounds and tee boxes at varying elevations, giving the layout far more dimension than a typical flat course.
Highlights & Signature Holes
- The par-3 17th is the course’s signature hole, featuring the only floating island green in Asia, accessible only by boat with no connecting bridge. You must land your shot on the green, then take a boat across to putt.
- It is a course that challenges both shot placement and mental game, well suited to those who enjoy tournament-caliber layouts.
- It has hosted several international events, including The Royal Trophy (Europe vs. Asia, 2006–2010), the Thailand Golf Championship (2011–2015), and the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2012).
Who it suits
Ideal for serious golfers who want to take on a championship-level course, as well as groups making a special trip to conquer the distinctive floating island green at hole 17. It may not be an easy, laid-back round for pure beginners, but it is well worth it for the experience.
