The X5 sits at the top of Shot Scope’s stats line, and it is a different proposition from the pure-GPS G6: the box contains 16 second-generation tracking tags, one for the grip end of every club in the bag. From then on the watch records each shot on its own, with nothing to tap mid-round.

What comes back is over a hundred statistics, including Strokes Gained — the number that actually answers where the shots are going: off the tee, into greens, or on the putting surface. If you practise a lot without knowing what to fix first, that is the difference between guessing and knowing. The hole maps then overlay your own average distance per club, which tends to be a quieter and more useful shock than any stat table.

Against the V3 in the same line, the main difference is the screen: the X5 has a 1.2-inch colour touchscreen at 240 × 240 with a ceramic bezel, where the V3 is a monochrome button watch. The price gap is real, and so is the weight — the X5 is 50 g.

Buy this if you are serious about improving and want Strokes-Gained-level data without a monthly fee. Skip it if you only want the yardage to the green — the G6 is cheaper, lighter, and asks nothing of your grips.
