A world-class course that has hosted international tournaments, offering pristine conditions and premium service.

Overview

Thai Country Club has been open since December 1996, located in Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao Province, a short distance east of Bangkok. It was designed by Denis Griffiths, the American golf course architect who at the time served as president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA). It is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course measuring around 7,157 yards from the back tees. The hallmark of the layout is water that comes into play as a hazard on nearly every stretch, along with sand bunkers and hole placements that reward precision over sheer power, all set within meticulously landscaped surroundings.

Highlights & Signature Holes

  • Hole 6, a par 3 measuring 218 yards from the back tees, features water flanking the right side and bunkers front and back of the green. It was hailed as the best par 3 in Asia from 2001 to 2006 and is the hardest hole on the course.
  • Hole 10, a par 4 measuring 406 yards, is famous for Tiger Woods driving the green in a single shot back in 1997.
  • Hole 15 is a dangerous hole, with water in play on both the tee shot and the second shot.
  • The course has hosted world-class tournaments, with Tiger Woods winning the Asian Honda Classic in 1997 at 20 under par, a full 10 strokes clear of the field.

Who it suits

It suits golfers who want to test their game on a serious tournament-caliber course, as well as those who want to experience a historic venue where world champions have played. Beginners can play it too, but should choose a tee box that matches their own distance.

Before you go

The course sits on the eastern side of Bangkok, easily reached via the motorway, making it ideal to plan as a half-day to full-day trip. Since it is a popular course with semi-private status, it is best to call ahead to book a tee time and check the conditions for play in advance.
